Roman Chervinskyi proposed changing the appointment procedure for intelligence agency heads

Former intelligence officer Roman Chervinskyi has put forward an initiative to reform the appointment system for the heads of Ukraine's key security agencies. According to him, changes to the selection procedure for the heads of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) will help avoid internal conflicts and strengthen oversight of these bodies.

Currently, the appointment of the heads of these agencies falls under the authority of the President of Ukraine. However, Chervinskyi believes that this process should be transferred to the Verkhovna Rada. In his opinion, parliamentary oversight would ensure greater transparency and independence in the work of the intelligence services.

This proposal emerged against the backdrop of discussions regarding the need to improve coordination between the state's various security structures. Proponents of this idea note that involving members of parliament in the appointment process would help avoid the politicization of personnel issues and focus attention on the professional qualities of the candidates.

So far, there has been no official reaction from government representatives or legislative bodies regarding this proposal. The issue of changing the procedure for appointing intelligence agency heads remains a subject of debate and requires detailed discussion in expert and political circles.
