French Hammer aerial bombs to be adapted for use on Gripen fighter jets
Ukraine continues to strengthen its Air Force with the help of international partners. Recent news indicates that French high-precision AASM Hammer aerial bombs will be integrated for use on Swedish Gripen fighter jets.
AASM Hammer bombs are modern weapons that feature a guidance system and can strike targets at long range. Previously, these munitions have already been successfully used by Ukrainian pilots on Soviet-era aircraft that underwent appropriate modernization.
The Gripen fighter jets, which are set to enter service with Ukraine, are multi-role aircraft. Adapting French bombs to these fighters will significantly expand the capabilities of Ukrainian aviation in combating enemy positions and equipment.
This step is part of a strategy to transition to Western armament standards. Cooperation between France, Sweden, and Ukraine allows for the creation of effective weapons combinations that help defend the Ukrainian sky and support ground operations.
Currently, specialists are working on the technical aspects of system integration. It is expected that the use of new munitions on modern aircraft will increase the precision of strikes and the safety of Ukrainian pilots during combat missions.
