The danger of "beauty injections": cases of botulism recorded in Ukraine
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine warns about the dangers of undergoing cosmetic procedures with unverified specialists. Recently, cases of iatrogenic botulism associated with the use of low-quality products for so-called "beauty injections" have become more frequent in the country.
Botulism is a severe infectious disease that affects the nervous system. If an uncertified product is used during a procedure or if sterility rules are violated, the toxin can enter the body. This poses a serious threat to the patient's health and life.
Doctors urge Ukrainians to be attentive to the first symptoms of the illness. The main signs of botulism are double vision, drooping eyelids, difficulty swallowing or speaking, as well as pronounced muscle weakness. Many patients also experience a feeling of shortness of breath.
If such symptoms appear after a visit to a cosmetologist, it is necessary to seek medical help immediately. Timely diagnosis and the administration of a special serum are critical for recovery, as self-treatment in the case of botulism is ineffective.
Experts emphasize: before any procedure, a patient has the right to check the clinic's license and the quality certificates of the products. Choose only verified cosmetologists who work in medical facilities to avoid risks to your own health.
