Significant rise in potato prices forecast in Ukraine
A significant increase in the cost of potatoes is expected in Ukraine in the near future. Experts predict that prices could rise by approximately 30% as early as the end of October or the beginning of November. This is due to a lower harvest this year than previously anticipated.
The main reason for the price hike is unfavorable weather conditions, which have negatively affected the quality and quantity of the harvested produce. Due to heat and drought in the summer, many farms harvested fewer potatoes than planned. This creates a market deficit, which traditionally leads to price increases.
Specialists note that the price growth will primarily affect high-quality produce suitable for long-term storage during the winter. Since the demand for potatoes remains consistently high, buyers should be prepared for the fact that their food budget may increase.
The situation in the vegetable market remains under control, although consumers are advised to take these changes into account when planning their expenses. Experts continue to monitor price dynamics to understand how the situation will develop during the winter period.
