Cases of botulism recorded in Ukraine after 'beauty injections'
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has warned citizens about the dangers of undergoing cosmetic procedures with unverified specialists. Recently, doctors have recorded cases of botulism linked to the administration of botulinum toxin injections, known as "beauty injections."
According to experts, the incidents occurred in three regions of Ukraine. Patients sought medical help after using the services of cosmetologists who worked at home or in unlicensed offices. A preliminary investigation showed that the poisoning was caused by low-quality or improperly stored preparations used for the procedures.
Botulism is a serious infectious disease that affects the nervous system. Symptoms can appear several hours or days after the procedure. These include blurred vision, dry mouth, muscle weakness, and difficulty swallowing. Doctors emphasize: if you notice such signs after a visit to a cosmetologist, you must call an ambulance immediately.
Experts warn that the use of counterfeit drugs poses a threat to life. Before undergoing any injection procedures, patients have the right to demand quality certificates for the drugs and a medical practice license. It is important to seek services only from certified clinics that comply with all sanitary standards.
Currently, relevant services are conducting inspections to identify the sources of the distribution of dangerous drugs. Citizens are urged to be responsible and not to risk their own health for the sake of questionable savings on cosmetic services.
