The German city of Düsseldorf hosted a large-scale sporting event — the Invictus Germany Sports Festival 2026. This event brought together veterans and military personnel from various countries who were injured while performing their official duties. The main goal of the festival is to support the physical and psychological rehabilitation of participants through sports.
Ukraine was represented at these competitions by a team of 20 athletes. The national team included representatives from various regions of our country. The participants included both professional military personnel and specialists involved in veteran support, which underscores the importance of social adaptation through an active lifestyle.
Participants competed in various disciplines, demonstrating strength of spirit and resilience. For Ukrainian veterans, participating in such events is an important opportunity not only to showcase their athletic achievements but also to share experiences with colleagues from other countries and draw the attention of the global community to the needs of war veterans.
The festival organizers emphasized that the Invictus Games and similar sporting events serve as a platform for recovery and development. For Ukraine, this is also an important step in developing veteran sports and implementing new rehabilitation methods that help defenders return to a full life after severe trials.
