VDNG suffers significant losses due to intensified Russian shelling
The National Complex "Expocenter of Ukraine" (VDNG) in Kyiv is facing serious financial difficulties. Due to constant Russian shelling and security threats, attendance at the complex has dropped by 60%. This has resulted in the organization losing approximately 19 million hryvnias in revenue over the last month.
VDNG management notes that visitor safety remains the top priority. Because of frequent air raid alerts and the danger of missile strikes, people have become less likely to attend mass events, exhibitions, and entertainment venues that were previously very popular among Kyiv residents and visitors to the capital.
The loss of funds is significantly impacting the complex's operations. This money was necessary for maintaining infrastructure, caring for the large park area, and conducting ongoing repair work. The administration is now forced to look for ways to optimize expenses in order to keep the facility in proper condition during the war.
The situation at VDNG is a reflection of the general problems faced by Ukraine's cultural and entertainment sector. Despite the difficult circumstances, the complex continues to operate; however, future plans for new projects now depend on the security situation in the country and the ability to ensure protection for visitors.
