Ukraine proposes ending mutual strikes on energy infrastructure
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced his readiness for negotiations on ending attacks on energy sector facilities. According to the head of state, Ukraine could stop strikes on Russian oil refineries if the Russian Federation ceases shelling Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
This initiative is aimed at reducing the destruction that significantly impacts the lives of the civilian population and the economies of both countries. In recent months, energy facilities have become one of the main targets in the war, which has led to serious problems with electricity supply in Ukraine.
Experts note that ending such attacks could be an important step toward stabilizing the situation. As of now, there has been no official response from the Russian side regarding this proposal.
The situation remains tense, as energy security is critically important for preparations for the upcoming heating season. The Ukrainian government continues to work on restoring damaged capacity and protecting facilities from further attacks.
