Medical Development in Ukraine: Number of Transplants Increased by 30%

Despite difficult conditions, Ukrainian medicine continues to actively develop and save lives. During the first half of this year, doctors performed a significant number of organ and bone marrow transplant operations. These figures demonstrate positive dynamics and offer hope to many patients in need of complex medical care.

According to official data, 327 organ transplants were performed in Ukraine over six months. This is nearly 30% more than in the same period last year. Most frequently, doctors transplanted kidneys—184 such operations were conducted. Medics also successfully performed 88 liver transplants and 55 heart surgeries.

Specialists pay special attention to bone marrow transplantation. During the first half of the year, 280 such procedures were performed. It is important to note that every tenth transplant operation was performed on a child. This testifies to the high level of training of Ukrainian specialists and the availability of modern equipment for treating the youngest patients.

The increase in the number of such complex operations confirms that Ukraine's healthcare system is becoming more effective even in times of war. The development of transplantology allows Ukrainians to receive necessary assistance within the country without going abroad. This is an important step toward strengthening national medicine and saving hundreds of lives every year.
