Croatia increases capacity of gas terminal to strengthen energy security
Croatia has announced plans to expand its liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, which is located on the Adriatic island of Krk. This decision is of great importance for the energy stability of the region and opens up new opportunities for energy resource supplies to European countries, including Ukraine.
According to the project, the commercial capacity of the terminal will be increased by 1 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Upon completion of the work, the total capacity of the facility will reach 4.5 billion cubic meters. This will allow for a significant increase in gas import volumes from alternative sources, reducing dependence on traditional suppliers.
For Ukraine, the development of this infrastructure is an important step in diversifying energy routes. Increasing capacity on the island of Krk creates additional opportunities for receiving gas through the European gas transmission system, which contributes to strengthening our state's energy independence.
The implementation of this project is part of a broader European Union strategy to modernize the energy network. It is expected that the expansion of the terminal will help stabilize energy prices and ensure more reliable gas supplies for industry and household consumers in the future.
