Poland Urges Ukraine to Exercise Diplomatic Restraint: Statement by Radosław Sikorski
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has advised Ukrainian officials to be more restrained in their public statements. This came as a response to recent comments by the head of Ukrainian intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov. Sikorski emphasized that in wartime conditions, professional diplomacy is of paramount importance for maintaining international aid.
The Polish minister noted that Ukraine should avoid emotional statements directed at its allies. According to him, Ukraine is currently the one in greatest need of support from Western countries, so it is important to maintain a positive dialogue. He also recalled that Poland was one of the first nations to provide large-scale military and humanitarian aid after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.
Recently, certain discussions have arisen between Kyiv and Warsaw regarding the volume of military aid and some historical issues. Sikorski believes that in such situations, it is better to focus on common goals rather than public disputes. He called for a constructive dialogue that would help strengthen unity between the neighboring countries and other partners in Europe.
Despite certain differences in views, Poland remains one of Ukraine's most important strategic partners. Experts note that maintaining trust and mutual understanding between the two countries is critically important for the security of the entire region. Both sides must seek compromises to effectively confront common challenges and continue their cooperation.
