President Zelenskyy has dismissed Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree dismissing Andriy Kostin from the position of Prosecutor General of Ukraine. This decision marks an important stage in the personnel changes within the state's law enforcement agencies. Andriy Kostin had headed the office since July 2022.

The reason for this decision was the situation regarding the registration of disability status by officials of the Medical and Social Expert Commissions (MSEC). The President emphasized that many cases of abuse had been uncovered within the prosecutor's office, where employees obtained fake disability certificates to receive state payments or avoid mobilization.

At a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that responsibility for these violations must be personal. He also demanded a full audit of all MSEC decisions regarding the granting of disability status to prosecutors across the country. According to the President, the system requires immediate cleansing and reform.

Andriy Kostin officially resigned following criticism from the country's top leadership. In his statement, he noted that he takes political responsibility for the situation that has developed within the prosecutor's office. For the time being, the duties of the Prosecutor General will be performed by another person until a new head of the agency is appointed.

These events are part of a broader anti-corruption campaign in Ukraine. Citizens and international partners expect that such personnel decisions will help restore trust in the law enforcement system and ensure justice within state structures.
