Sport as support: how the 'Carpathian Legion' project helps children from frontline regions
The Rating sociological group has presented the results of a study on the impact of sport on the mental health of teenagers. The presentation took place during the launch of the new 'Carpathian Legion' project, which is aimed at supporting children living in the frontline zones of Ukraine.
The main goal of the initiative is to help young people overcome the stress and psychological trauma caused by the war. Experts emphasize that regular physical activity is one of the most effective ways to stabilize emotional state. Sport allows teenagers not only to improve their physical fitness but also to find new friends in a safe environment.
During the discussion, experts stressed that children living close to the frontline need special attention and socialization. Sports camps and active recreation in the Carpathians give them the opportunity to take their minds off alarming news for at least a while and feel the support of a community.
The 'Carpathian Legion' project plans to involve hundreds of teenagers in sports activities. The organizers hope that this experience will help children develop self-confidence and learn to better cope with the challenges brought by the war. In the future, there are plans to expand the program to reach a larger number of participants from different regions of Ukraine.
