PACE calls for allocating a portion of Ukraine's reconstruction funds to support veterans
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has addressed the organization's member states with an important initiative. The Assembly proposes allocating a portion of the financial resources earmarked for the reconstruction of Ukraine directly to the social needs of citizens most affected by the war.
According to the proposal, approximately 10% of the funds allocated for reconstruction should be directed toward supporting veterans and people with disabilities. This decision aims to ensure proper rehabilitation and social adaptation for those who defended the country or were injured as a result of hostilities.
PACE representatives emphasize that the reconstruction of Ukraine is not just about building new houses or infrastructure. An important part of this process is caring for people who require long-term treatment and psychological support after the events they have experienced.
This initiative underscores the solidarity of the European community with Ukraine. It is expected that this approach will help to more effectively integrate veterans into civilian life and create dignified conditions for them upon their return from the front.
Currently, Council of Europe countries are discussing mechanisms for implementing this recommendation. It is expected that these steps will help strengthen the social resilience of Ukrainian society in the face of a protracted war.
