Putin explains massive strikes on Ukraine's energy sector as retaliation for attacks on Russian oil refineries
Russian ruler Vladimir Putin has officially commented on the recent massive attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. He stated that these strikes are a response to the actions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, which had previously targeted Russian oil refineries.
According to Putin, Russia was allegedly forced to respond to attacks on its facilities. He emphasized that such actions are part of a strategy aimed at ensuring the Ukrainian side ceases attempts to damage the Russian economy and oil industry.
At the same time, the Russian leader continues to insist that the war against Ukraine supposedly has no negative impact on the Russian economy. However, international experts note that regular attacks on oil facilities inside Russia significantly limit the country's export capabilities and reduce revenue from fuel sales.
Ukrainian authorities and military experts view Putin's statements as an attempt to justify terror against the civilian population and critical infrastructure. Currently, the situation in Ukraine's energy sector remains difficult due to constant shelling, which is destroying generation capacities across the country.
The international community continues to condemn Russia's actions, emphasizing that attacks on energy facilities are a violation of international law. Ukraine, for its part, is calling on partners to strengthen air defense to protect cities and critical infrastructure from further attacks.
