National Health Service changes funding rules for surgical departments
Starting July 1, new requirements for medical institutions come into effect in Ukraine. The National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU) is ceasing funding for surgical departments that perform an insufficient number of operations.
According to the new rules, a hospital must perform at least 600 complex surgical interventions per year. If an institution does not meet this threshold, it loses state funding for this area. This decision is aimed at improving the quality of medical services and patient safety.
One of the institutions affected by these restrictions is the surgical department in Domanivka. Because the number of operations there is below the established standard, the NHSU will no longer allocate funds for the operation of this department.
Representatives of the medical sector note that such changes are part of the healthcare reform. The goal is for patients to receive care in hospitals where surgeons have sufficient experience and practice, which is only possible with a high volume of operations.
Currently, local authorities and hospital management are looking for ways to resolve the situation to ensure residents have access to necessary medical care. Patients are advised to seek services at other institutions that meet the new NHSU criteria.
