The number of organ transplant surgeries has increased in Ukraine
Over the last six months, the number of organ transplant surgeries in Ukraine has increased significantly. According to official data, medical professionals performed 327 organ transplants and 280 bone marrow transplants. This is nearly 30% more than in the same period last year.
Among the surgeries performed, kidney transplants account for the largest share, with 184 procedures completed. Doctors also successfully performed 88 liver transplants and 55 heart transplant surgeries. These figures demonstrate the development of the healthcare system and the increasing expertise of Ukrainian surgeons.
An important part of this work is helping the youngest patients. Statistics show that one in ten transplant surgeries was performed on a child. This provides a chance for a full life to many children who were in need of urgent medical intervention.
The increase in the number of such surgeries has been made possible by improvements in legislation and better organization of medical center operations. The development of transplantology remains one of the priority areas for Ukrainian medicine, as it saves thousands of lives every year.
