The European Union has responded to Ukraine's request for additional aid to farmers
The European Union has provided an official response to Ukraine's request to allocate 220 million euros to support the agricultural sector. These funds were intended to help Ukrainian farmers who suffered losses due to the blockade of seaports and difficulties with exporting agricultural products.
In their response, EU representatives stated that they are currently unable to provide additional funding of this magnitude. Instead of new payments, European partners suggested focusing on the effective use of existing aid programs. This means that financial support will continue, but within the framework of previously agreed-upon projects.
Blocking ports remains a serious challenge for the Ukrainian economy, as the agricultural sector is one of the country's key sources of income. Farmers are forced to seek alternative routes for exporting grain and other products, which significantly increases logistics costs and reduces producers' profits.
The European Union emphasizes that it continues to support Ukraine during the war. In addition to financial instruments, the EU is working to improve the "solidarity lanes" that allow Ukrainian goods to be transported across land borders to European markets and the ports of other countries.
The situation remains under the control of government officials, who are continuing negotiations with international partners. Despite the refusal of additional funding, cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in the agricultural sector continues, and the search for new solutions to support farmers remains a priority task.
