Ukraine is ready to ensure safe vessel movement in the Black Sea
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the state's readiness to establish a safe passage regime for merchant vessels in the Black Sea. This decision is aimed at stabilizing maritime logistics and supporting the country's economic activity under martial law.
Ensuring the security of maritime routes is a critically important task for Ukrainian exports. The stable operation of ports allows Ukraine to continue supplying food and other goods to global markets, which supports not only the domestic economy but also global food security.
Ukrainian authorities are actively working to create the necessary conditions to protect civilian shipping. This includes cooperation with international partners and strengthening control over the security situation in the Black Sea, in order to minimize risks to crews and cargo.
Despite the difficult conditions, Ukraine is demonstrating determination in protecting its maritime interests. Establishing safe corridors is an important step toward restoring the full operation of Ukrainian ports and strengthening the state's position on the international stage.
