The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine goes on a long break: what is known about the parliament's work
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has announced a break in its work. Deputies will not gather for sessions for 26 days — from September 17 to October 13. This was announced by People's Deputy Yaroslav Zhelezniak.
The main reason for this decision is cited as the difficult financial situation in the country and the budget deficit. Currently, the state requires significant funds to support the economy and finance defense needs, so the issue of filling the budget remains a priority.
Experts note that a long pause in the parliament's work could create certain risks. In particular, there is concern regarding potential delays in receiving financial aid from international partners, which requires prompt legislative formalization.
Despite the break in plenary sessions, work in the Verkhovna Rada committees is expected to continue. Deputies will keep processing draft laws so that upon returning to the session hall in mid-October, they can quickly consider the most important issues for the country.
Currently, Ukrainian society is awaiting the resumption of the parliament's full-scale work. The stability of the state budget and further support for Ukraine from the international community will depend on the effectiveness of the decisions made after the break.
