Ukraine's economy shows signs of slowing: EBRD data
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has released new data on the state of the Ukrainian economy. According to official statistics, a 0.6% decline in Ukraine's real gross domestic product (GDP) was recorded in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year.
EBRD experts emphasize that these figures indicate the beginning of a period of slowing economic development in the country. This contraction is causing concern among analysts, as it points to the complex challenges the state is facing under the current economic situation.
Bank representatives warn of the risk of a further decline in GDP if the negative trends cannot be halted. Statistical data confirm that economic activity in the first months of 2026 turned out to be lower than expected, which requires attention from financial institutions.
Currently, experts continue to monitor developments to assess the future prospects of the Ukrainian economy. The stability of macroeconomic indicators remains one of the key issues for the country in the coming months.
