European Union denies Ukraine additional funding for farmers

The European Union has decided not to provide the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine with an additional 220 million euros. These funds were planned to be directed toward supporting Ukrainian agricultural producers in the form of non-repayable aid.

The request for funding was initiated by the Ukrainian side to assist farmers who continue to operate under martial law. However, after reviewing the appeal, EU representatives announced that it was impossible to allocate this specific sum to the agricultural sector.

At present, official representatives of the European Union have not provided detailed comments regarding the reasons for the refusal. It is known that European aid to Ukraine continues to flow through other programs aimed at supporting the economy, energy, and infrastructure reconstruction; however, the agricultural sector in this particular case remained without additional funding.

For Ukrainian farmers, this decision is significant, as agriculture remains one of the key sectors of Ukraine's economy. Farmers continue to face logistical difficulties, high production costs, and the consequences of hostilities, which affects the volume of product exports.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine has not yet announced further plans regarding the search for alternative sources of support for farmers. It is expected that the government will continue negotiations with international partners to ensure the stable operation of the agricultural sector in the future.
