E-sick leave in Ukraine: why patients are not receiving SMS notifications
The electronic sick leave system continues to operate in Ukraine, yet many patients complain about the lack of SMS notifications regarding the creation of the document. Although a doctor enters the data into the electronic healthcare system, notifications are not always sent to the phone. This causes concern among citizens who worry about whether their sick leave certificate has been processed correctly.
Experts explain that the main reason for the lack of a notification is the settings in the patient's personal account. Often, users do not provide a phone number or do not consent to receive notifications from the system. The problem can also arise due to technical glitches in mobile network operations or outdated information in the patient's electronic record.
To check the status of your sick leave, it is not necessary to wait for an SMS. Patients can independently log in to the Pension Fund of Ukraine portal using an electronic signature or BankID. All information regarding opened documents, their status, and validity periods is displayed there. This is the most reliable way to ensure that the doctor has successfully issued the sick leave.
If you discover an error or the sick leave does not appear in the system, you should contact your family doctor. The doctor will be able to check the data and correct any technical inaccuracies. Remember that an electronic sick leave certificate has the same legal force as a paper one, so it is important to check its status in a timely manner to receive payments from the state.
