Elon Musk restricts use of Starlink for strikes on Russian territory
American billionaire Elon Musk continues to restrict Ukraine's access to Starlink satellite communications for certain operations. According to media reports, SpaceX does not grant permission to use its technology for strikes against military targets located within the territory of the Russian Federation.
The Starlink system has played a critically important role for the Ukrainian military since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Thanks to these terminals, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have stable internet and communication on the front lines, which helps coordinate unit actions and control unmanned aerial vehicles.
Elon Musk's position regarding the use of his technology in the combat zone remains ambiguous. Previously, the billionaire has repeatedly stated that he wants to avoid escalation of the conflict and does not wish for his satellite network to be used for offensive military operations against Russia.
This decision is sparking debate among international experts and representatives of the Ukrainian government. Despite the restrictions, Starlink remains the primary tool for ensuring communication in conditions of damaged infrastructure, so cooperation between Ukraine and SpaceX continues within the established rules.
For now, the situation remains stable, and the Ukrainian side continues negotiations with partners to ensure the uninterrupted operation of critical technologies for the country's defense.
