US peace initiatives cause disappointment in Kyiv and Moscow
Recently, the process of preparing for potential peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, mediated by the US, has been facing serious difficulties. As sources report, the actions of American representative Steve Witkoff are raising increasing questions and dissatisfaction in both capitals.
According to the Kyiv Independent, the Ukrainian side is expressing disappointment over the lack of decisive steps from Washington. Kyiv had expected the US to increase pressure on Russia to accelerate the end of the war, but the current strategy of American diplomats appears insufficiently effective.
At the same time, Moscow is also demonstrating dissatisfaction with the course of contacts. Witkoff's behavior during discussions, particularly his unconventional approaches to conducting dialogue, is not contributing to progress in the negotiations. This creates an atmosphere of uncertainty that complicates the search for compromise solutions for both sides of the conflict.
Experts note that the US reluctance to use stronger leverage against the Kremlin is stalling the diplomatic process. So far, neither side sees a clear plan that could lead to real results, which only intensifies the tension surrounding future consultations.
For now, the future of peace negotiations remains in question. Further developments will depend on whether the American side can change its approach and offer mechanisms that will be acceptable to Ukraine and compel Russia to engage in a constructive dialogue.
