Experts warn of potential GDP losses due to the blockade of seaports

Ukraine continues to face serious economic challenges due to the war. One of the most acute problems remains the blockade of seaports, which are key to Ukrainian exports. Experts from the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Ukraine) have analyzed the current situation and assessed the potential consequences for the country's economy.

According to expert forecasts, if the maritime corridor cannot be restored within a year, Ukraine risks losing more than 10% of its gross domestic product (GDP). This is a significant amount that will substantially affect the state's financial stability and its ability to fund social programs.

The main reason for such losses is the inability to fully export goods, particularly agricultural products and metal. Maritime routes have traditionally been the cheapest and fastest way to deliver Ukrainian goods to world markets. Due to logistics limitations, transportation costs are rising, which makes Ukrainian products less competitive.

Currently, the government and international partners are looking for ways to unblock the ports and ensure the safety of shipping. Restoring maritime exports is a critically important task, as it will allow not only for the stabilization of the economy but also for an increase in foreign currency revenue to the state budget.

The situation remains complex, however, the issue of maritime logistics remains a priority in negotiations with international organizations. Experts emphasize that the stable operation of ports is a necessary condition for the restoration of Ukraine's economic growth in the future.
