Preparing for winter: Ukraine has accumulated the necessary gas and energy reserves
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has reported on the state of preparation of the country's energy system for the winter period. According to the head of government, the state is actively working to ensure stable heating and electricity supply for the population in the event of potential cold weather.
To date, 14.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas have already been accumulated in Ukraine's underground storage facilities. This volume is an important indicator that allows the government to speak confidently about its readiness for the heating season and its ability to meet consumer needs throughout the winter months.
In addition to gas reserves, the authorities are paying great attention to the restoration and development of power generation. Currently, the available capacity of the energy system is 15 GW. However, work to increase these figures is ongoing, and the commissioning of additional capacity is planned by the end of the current year.
The government continues to work on the protection and modernization of energy facilities. Despite difficult conditions, the efforts of energy workers are aimed at making the system more resilient to the challenges that may arise in winter.
