The number of organ transplant surgeries has increased in Ukraine
Over the last six months, the number of organ transplant surgeries in Ukraine has increased significantly. According to official data, medical professionals performed 327 organ transplants and 280 bone marrow transplants. This is nearly 30% more than in the same period last year.
Among the surgeries performed, kidney transplants account for the largest share, with 184 procedures completed. Doctors also performed 88 liver transplant surgeries and 55 heart transplant surgeries. These figures indicate the development of the transplant system in the country, despite the difficult conditions of wartime.
Medical professionals are paying special attention to helping the youngest patients. One in ten organ transplant surgeries was performed on a child. This underscores the importance of such medical interventions in saving the lives of children who require complex care.
The development of transplantology in Ukraine allows many patients to receive necessary treatment within the country without having to travel abroad. The increase in the number of surgeries is an important step for Ukrainian medicine and gives hope for recovery to thousands of people.
