Export crisis: Ukraine is shipping only a fifth of the planned grain volume
The Ukrainian agricultural sector is facing serious difficulties due to restrictions on the operation of seaports. Currently, the export of grain crops has become economically unviable for producers, which has led to a critical decline in the volume of shipments to foreign markets.
According to the latest data, Ukraine is exporting less than a third of the planned amount of agricultural products. At the moment, it is possible to ship only 20% of the required grain volumes. Experts cite the high cost of logistics as the main reason for this situation, which makes selling the Ukrainian harvest abroad unprofitable for farmers.
The blockade of ports and the need to use alternative, more expensive routes significantly affect the profitability of the agricultural business. High costs for transporting grain by rail or road to European borders significantly exceed the income that producers receive from the sale of their products.
This situation creates additional risks for the country's food security and economic stability. Farmers continue to look for ways to optimize costs, but without the restoration of full-scale maritime operations, exports remain at a low level.
