Ukraine may need additional funding until 2029: IMF assessment
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has released new projections regarding Ukraine's financial needs. According to the experts' analysis, the country may require an additional $54 billion by 2029 to maintain economic stability and support the state's recovery.
This amount is part of the updated cooperation program between Ukraine and the IMF. Fund specialists note that these funds are necessary to cover the budget deficit and ensure social payments amid the ongoing war. The financing will help the government maintain the operation of critical infrastructure and continue reforms, despite the difficult wartime circumstances.
The IMF report emphasizes that the success of this program depends not only on external assistance but also on Ukraine's internal economic efforts. Specifically, this refers to the effective management of public finances and the gradual restoration of economic growth. International partners continue to monitor Ukraine's fulfillment of its obligations under the signed agreements.
Economists note that receiving such funds is an important signal for other international investors and donors. Stable cooperation with the IMF creates conditions for financial confidence and helps attract the additional investments needed for the country's future reconstruction.
Currently, the Ukrainian government continues to work on meeting the fund's requirements to ensure the timely receipt of tranches. The issue of financial support remains a priority for maintaining the state's macroeconomic stability in the coming years.
