Ukrainian defense sector faces critical shortage of specialists
The Ukrainian defense industry is currently experiencing serious difficulties due to an acute shortage of qualified personnel. According to international experts, companies working for the needs of the army are facing a major deficit of engineers and technical specialists, who are essential for the development and production of modern weaponry.
The situation in the labor market has become so tense that defense enterprises are forced to compete with each other for talented workers. Some companies are offering specialists salaries that are three times higher than the industry average, attempting to lure them away. Analysts call this trend "internal cannibalism," as instead of training new personnel, companies are competing for already existing experts.
In addition to raising salaries, employers are trying to attract students and specialists from other technical fields. However, the rapid training of new employees requires time and resources, which weapons manufacturers often lack due to the constant need to increase production rates.
This problem is critical for national security, as the effectiveness of the Ukrainian defense sector directly depends on human capital. Finding long-term solutions, such as government training programs and support for technical universities, is becoming the main task for stabilizing the situation in the industry.
