Psychological Assistance for Veterans: Red Cross Conducts Special Training for Social Workers
The Ukrainian Red Cross Society organized an important training session for specialists working with veterans in communities. The training focused on providing psychological first aid (PFA). This event took place in close cooperation with the Mental Health Coordination Center under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
The main goal of the training is to teach social workers how to properly support male and female veterans. Participants learned how to recognize signs of severe stress and how to respond professionally to complex emotional states. Such knowledge will help former military personnel adapt more easily to civilian life after returning from the front.
Cooperation with state structures is key to creating an effective support system nationwide. The Coordination Center helps implement unified standards of assistance so that every veteran can receive high-quality consultation. This is particularly important for small communities where access to specialized medicine may be limited.
Such initiatives are extremely important for modern Ukrainian society. Mental health support helps not only veterans but also their families and loved ones. The Red Cross Society plans to continue similar educational programs to strengthen the psychological resilience of Ukrainians during difficult times.
