US approves $2.68 billion sale of air defense equipment to Ukraine
The U.S. Department of State has officially approved the sale of modern weaponry and specialized equipment for air defense systems to Ukraine. The total value of this aid package is $2.68 billion.
This decision is part of a strategy to support Ukraine in protecting its skies from aerial attacks. The new equipment will help enhance the effectiveness of Ukrainian air defense systems, which repel enemy missile and drone strikes on a daily basis.
The procurement includes the supply of necessary spare parts, technical maintenance, and the modernization of existing complexes. This will allow the Ukrainian military to restore equipment more quickly and maintain it in combat-ready condition.
Receiving such assistance is critically important for the safety of civilians and the country's critical infrastructure. Strengthening air defense remains one of the top priorities in the cooperation between Kyiv and Washington.
It is expected that the delivery of the equipment will begin in the near future. The U.S. continues to provide the necessary support to Ukraine to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
