President Zelenskyy outlines conditions for holding elections in Ukraine
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that holding elections in the country is possible only under the condition of a ceasefire. The main requirement for this is the establishment of a 60-day truce with the Russian Federation.
According to the head of state, the electoral process requires a stable security situation. Currently, martial law is in effect in Ukraine, which restricts the holding of elections, as the safety of citizens and the organization of voting on the front lines and in frontline zones is an extremely complex task.
Zelenskyy emphasized that any elections must be legitimate and safe for all voters. The issue of voting accessibility for millions of Ukrainians who have been forced to stay abroad also remains one of the key challenges for the authorities.
At present, official Kyiv continues to focus on defensive actions and diplomatic support from partners. The issue of elections remains a subject of debate and depends on the further development of events on the battlefield and the enemy's readiness for real negotiations.
Thus, holding elections in Ukraine at this stage remains dependent on security guarantees. The authorities emphasize that the priority remains the protection of the state's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
