Transparency International Ukraine calls for the independence of anti-corruption bodies
Transparency International Ukraine has appealed to the Office of the President, urging it not to interfere in the activities of anti-corruption institutions. This statement followed a recent operation conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO).
Representatives of the organization emphasize that the independence of law enforcement agencies is critically important for Ukraine. According to them, any political pressure on investigators or prosecutors could negatively impact the trust of citizens and international partners in the country's anti-corruption system.
In its statement, Transparency International Ukraine stresses that the fight against corruption must take place strictly within the framework of the law. Any attempts by the authorities to influence investigations could be perceived as a violation of the principles of the rule of law, to which Ukraine aspires on its path toward European integration.
As of now, there has been no official response from the Office of the President to this appeal. The public and international experts continue to monitor developments, as the effective work of NABU and SAPO is one of the key requirements for the stable development of the Ukrainian economy and the strengthening of democratic institutions.
