Large-scale searches in Ukraine: SBU uncovers a scheme for the sale of dangerous weight-loss drugs
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in cooperation with the prosecutor's office, has launched a large-scale special operation across the country. Law enforcement officers are conducting over 250 searches as part of an investigation into the distribution of a counterfeit weight-loss drug called "Biopatid."
According to the investigation, the perpetrators established a network for selling uncertified medical products via the internet. These drugs had not undergone any laboratory testing and lacked the necessary licenses, which put the health and lives of thousands of Ukrainians who purchased them for weight management at risk.
During the searches, law enforcement officers are seizing documentation, rough notes, computer equipment, and large batches of counterfeit drugs. Investigative actions are taking place in various regions of Ukraine where the warehouses and offices of the organizers of this illegal scheme were operating.
Currently, law enforcement agencies are identifying everyone involved in the production and sale of the dangerous products. A criminal investigation has been opened regarding the offense, and examinations of the seized substances are underway to determine the extent of their danger to the human body.
The SBU urges citizens to be cautious and to purchase medicinal products only in official pharmacies. The agency emphasizes that the consumption of unverified drugs can lead to severe health consequences, so it is important to always check for quality certificates before making a purchase.
