Ukraine needs 100-120 Patriot missiles monthly for winter protection
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that to protect the Ukrainian sky during the winter period, the country needs between 100 and 120 missiles for Patriot surface-to-air missile systems every month. This equipment is critically important for repelling Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and civilian objects.
Currently, the Ukrainian authorities are actively working on finding the necessary resources. According to the president, Ukraine is considering several ways to obtain the weaponry. The primary sources of supply could be both the United States' own stockpiles and new missiles manufactured at American facilities.
In addition to cooperation with the US, Ukraine is conducting negotiations with countries in the Middle East. The goal of these discussions is to find additional opportunities for the supply of air defense systems and ammunition for them, in order to strengthen the protection of cities from aerial strikes.
Ensuring a sufficient number of Patriot missiles remains one of the top priorities for Ukraine before the start of the heating season. Strengthening air defense will help protect millions of Ukrainians from the consequences of Russian shelling during the most difficult months of the year.
