Indiana Mother Killed Protecting Her Son During Online Sale Robbery
A tragic incident occurred in Edison Park, Indiana, where a 40-year-old mother lost her life while trying to protect her son. Jean Gragg was killed during a robbery that began as a simple online sale. The family was using Facebook Marketplace to sell a watch when the meeting turned violent.
According to local reports, the meeting took place on the front porch of the family’s home. They were meeting with 18-year-old John Ford, who was supposed to be the buyer. However, during the transaction, Ford reportedly pulled out a gun and attempted to rob them.
When the gunman pointed his weapon at Gragg’s teenage son, the mother immediately stepped in between them. She was shot while shielding her child from the attacker. Her heroic actions saved her son’s life, but she sadly died from her injuries shortly after the shooting.
Police have since arrested John Ford in connection with the crime. The 18-year-old suspect is currently in custody as the investigation continues. This event has shocked the local community and raised serious concerns about the potential dangers of meeting strangers for online transactions.
Authorities often remind the public to be extremely careful when buying or selling items through social media apps. Many police departments now offer "safe exchange zones" in their parking lots. These areas are monitored by security cameras and provide a much safer environment for people to complete their business safely.
