Phone scam using British numbers.. Warning to citizens.
The Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications (RTR) has warned about the increase in phone fraud cases from numbers with the prefix +44, where scammers are attempting to steal personal data through these calls.
Since March 1, the authority has received 250 complaints regarding these suspicious calls. Fraud often begins with a voicemail claiming there is a job offer, then the victim is asked to add the number to their contacts on "WhatsApp," allowing the scammers an opportunity for free communication and information theft. The authority urged citizens not to respond to these numbers and to report any suspicious calls or messages via the website rufnummernmissbrauch.at.
