Theft crime in Vienna: Gang arrested behind pepper spray attack
A violent robbery in Vienna’s Simmering district has been solved after months of investigation, with authorities arresting all suspects involved in the brutal underground parking garage attack that left a victim injured.
According to police, the incident took place last year in Vienna (فيينا – Vienna), where a man was attacked shortly after parking his car in an underground garage in the Simmering (سيميرينغ – Simmering) district. Four masked assailants used pepper spray, physically assaulted the victim, and robbed him before fleeing the scene. The injured man required hospital treatment.
The breakthrough came in November 2025, when investigators from the Vienna State Criminal Police Office identified and arrested a 21-year-old suspect through DNA evidence. During questioning, he revealed the involvement of a 17-year-old accomplice who was already in custody at the time. The teenager later cooperated with authorities and provided further details about the group.
In January 2026, the special police unit WEGA carried out a raid on a residential property, leading to the arrest of a 23-year-old suspect. Officers also seized pepper spray and a blank-firing pistol during the operation. Shortly afterward, a fourth suspect, aged 24, was apprehended, completing the arrests of all individuals linked to the case.
All four suspects, identified as Austrian citizens, were detained on the orders of the Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office. Authorities believe the group may be connected to additional robbery cases, and investigations are ongoing as officials work to uncover the full extent of their criminal activities.
