A far-right member of Geuzenbond is convicted of illegal possession of weapons in North Brabant.
A far-right activist in the Netherlands has been sentenced to prison for illegal possession of weapons, highlighting growing concerns about extremist groups. Thomas D., 25, was sentenced to two years in prison, half of which is suspended, after several weapons and ammunition were found in his possession.
The Rotterdam District Court confirmed that D. held a 'leadership role' in Geuzenbond, a far-right organization identified by the National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV). Police found weapons and ammunition, including hundreds of bullets in his home, including a gas pistol converted into a firearm and instructions for making ammunition.
D. was previously suspected of planning a terrorist attack, but the charge was later dropped. However, the court took this previous allegation into account when issuing the ruling, noting its 'significant negative impact.' He will not have the seized weapons and ammunition returned to him.
D. was arrested in August 2025 after the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) reported concerns about the potential for him to commit violence against Antifa members. His extremism was described as 'concerning,' prompting the court to impose special conditions, including mandatory sessions with a psychologist.
The police also raided a former restaurant in Erp, Noord-Brabant, where D. lived as a homeless person. The prosecution reported that the property was partially used as a 'club' for Geuzenbond, highlighting the organized activity of the group in the area.
