The police in Vienna are chasing a man who attacked women in strange ways and are calling for cooperation.
Since April 2025, the areas of Margareten, Meidling, and Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus in Vienna have witnessed a series of horrific incidents where women were attacked by a man who threw feces at them and sometimes used syringes.
The suspect, a 29-year-old Romanian man, is said to belong to a drug-using environment according to the police. He was temporarily arrested on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, after committing a new incident by officers from the Fünfhaus police. Investigations are ongoing against him for charges of property damage, attempted bodily harm, and endangering the lives of others through infectious diseases.
Despite the seriousness of the charges, he was released after consulting with the Wien (Vienna) prosecutor's office, while continuing to be monitored legally. So far, four other similar cases have been recorded in different locations such as Sechshauser Gürtel, Schönbrunner Straße, Linke Wienzeile, and Gumpendorfer Straße subway station.
The police invite any other victims who have not filed reports or eyewitnesses with useful information to contact the criminal investigation team at the Storchengasse police station at phone number 01-31310-47341 or via email at PI-W-15-Storchengasse@polizei.gv.at.
