Far-Right Surge: Identitair Verzet Uses Asylum Protests to Gain Power!

Recent protests against the establishment of asylum seeker centers have been fueled by the far-right network Identitair Verzet (IDV), which is reportedly regaining influence after a period of quiet. This information comes from the research platform Justice for Prosperity (JfP), which claims that IDV is the Dutch branch of an international far-right organization that manipulates ordinary citizens' voices without their knowledge.

In places like Loosdrecht, there have been violent demonstrations against temporary asylum emergency shelters, where IDV exploited local tensions rather than representing genuine community interests. According to JfP, everyday citizens, who are genuinely worried about these issues, are unknowingly being used by this "international far-right network" to further their own agenda. The involvement of political figures, such as FVD leader Lidewij de Vos, has further complicated the situation.

For years, IDV seemed to vanish from public awareness, but it has recently resurfaced, re-establishing connections with other far-right groups like Defend. At demonstrations, they are seen using banners containing anti-immigration slogans and the IDV logo, which are recorded and shared within their circles. The IDV network is reportedly planning a relaunch.

The network's ideology is rooted in two controversial ideas: the "omvolkingstheorie," a conspiracy theory alleging that elites are intentionally replacing the native white population with non-Western immigrants, and "remigration," a euphemism for the forced deportation of millions based on ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, or skin color. Such theories have been deemed dangerously ultra-right and racist by experts.

Given the current climate, JfP has expressed concerns about the upcoming anti-asylum seeker protest in Ter Apel, which is expected to attract counter-protesters. They highlight that the combination of organized far-right elements and a heated atmosphere poses a real risk of escalating tensions. Jelle Postma, an intelligence expert and the founder of JfP, insists that the growth of IDV should not be overlooked, warning that the normalization of extremist language and actions is a pressing danger that society must remain vigilant against.
