Shocking statements prompt AfD to expel Helfrich
In a provocative move that sparked widespread controversy within the far-right party "Alternative für Deutschland", the arbitration committee of the party's branch in the state of "Nordrhein-Westfalen" decided to expel German parliament member "Matthias Helfrich" from the party. The decision came after a hearing held in "Düsseldorf" and was ratified on Saturday.
The request to expel "Helfrich" was submitted by the party leadership in the state since May 2024, after the deputy posted on "Instagram" calling for the deportation of German citizens of immigrant origin using coercive means, describing them as "beasts". This rhetoric shocked even within the ranks of the party known for its hardline positions.
In July, 'Helfresh's' membership was suspended and all his rights as a party member were revoked, pending a final decision. The rationale for the decision stated that his positions 'grossly violate human dignity,' and he was accused of threatening other members within the party and directing insults at them. 'Helfresh' denied these accusations and said he did not threaten anyone.
Despite the ruling, "Helfrich" announced that he would appeal the decision to the party leadership at the federal level, and if the appeal is rejected, he will resort to civil court, affirming that the procedures against him were filled with legal errors. He said in a video he recently posted: "In the end, we will win the case and I will return to the party."
