A daylight robbery in Graz, and the police are releasing photos and asking for help.

The Graz-Andritz area witnessed an armed attack on a bank branch on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Five employees were threatened with firearms and were tied up. Now, the police are asking for the public's help in identifying the attacker through surveillance camera footage.

At around 15:45, an unknown man entered the bank branch located on Stattegger Street in Graz-Andritz. There were five employees in the bank when the attacker threatened them with a weapon suspected to be a gun. He pushed the employees into one of the offices, where they were asked to hand over their mobile phones. He then demanded one of the female employees to tie up her colleagues with adhesive tape, and also covered their heads with wool hats and secured them with adhesive tape.

Before restraining the last employee, the attacker forced the bank manager to open the vault and requested access to the clients' safety deposit boxes. After tampering with a few boxes, the man left the bank branch after about thirty minutes, fleeing in an unknown direction. The amount of stolen money is still unknown. The employees were left tied up and later regained their senses, managed to free themselves, and report to the police. No injuries were reported.

Upon receiving the report, the police began an intensive search operation, sending several patrols, special units, and a police helicopter to the site. Investigators from the Styria State Security Department also started the necessary investigations. However, the police have not yet found any conclusive evidence regarding the identity of the attacker. Based on an order from the public prosecutor's office in Graz, surveillance camera images have been made available to the public in order to gather information.

The description of the suspect is a man between 180 and 185 cm tall, aged between 25 and 50 years. He was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and a black hat. Notably, he was wearing a blonde wig and orange/red frameless sunglasses, in addition to a white FFP2 mask. He also had flat earrings. The man was described as thin with light skin. He spoke with a Styrian accent and a loud voice, and was carrying a black sports bag. Any information regarding his identity, actions, or escape should be reported to the Styrian State Security Department at 059133/60-3333.
