Ukrainian Drones Hit Deep into Russia, Targeting Oil Supplies to Hungary!

Ukrainian forces have carried out a major attack on the Russian Druzhba pipeline, a crucial oil supply line that serves Hungary and Slovakia. Video footage from social media and Russian Telegram channels reportedly shows a large fire and thick black smoke at the targeted facility.

The attack hit the Kaleykino oil pumping station in Tatarstan, roughly 1,200 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Ukrainian sources said six explosions struck the station, setting oil tanks ablaze and temporarily paralyzing operations. Kyiv confirmed the use of 35 long-range drones in the strike, which targeted oil blending facilities critical for exports through the Druzhba pipeline.

Russia initially downplayed the attack. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed only that “enemy drones” had been intercepted and insisted the situation was under control, while local media emphasized there was no danger to residents. Despite this, Ukrainian officials confirmed the strike and taunted neighboring countries still reliant on Russian oil, notably Hungary and Slovakia.

Hungarian leaders reacted angrily. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán accused Ukraine of threatening Hungary’s energy security and criticized the country’s moves to reclaim territory occupied by Russia. Alongside Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Orbán has previously blocked EU sanctions against Moscow, a position reinforced after this latest attack. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó described the disruption as “blackmail” and announced retaliatory measures to counter Ukraine’s strategy.

The incident has sparked political tension within the EU. Budapest’s blockade of new sanctions against Russia is seen as a setback for European solidarity, particularly on the anniversary of Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian strike has been celebrated domestically, with social media users calling it an “absolute humiliation for Orbán” and a symbolic blow to Russian energy exports.
